Guard your modesty ~ oh muslimah.

I hear sisters who don’t wear hijab, but feel they are better than the sisters who do wear hijab, but with make up, tight clothes, hair showing etc ~ to them I say, follow what your Allah has ordered you to do first.  Dress how he has asked you to, cover your aura how he has instructed you, and leave the judging to Him, for HE alone, has the right to judge anyone. Do not use this cause, as an excuse so as not to embrace a part of the muslimah’s identity.

Remember, shaitaan lurks around every muslimah ever so zestfully … His ultimate goal is to lure her into sin. The graver the sin, the more the reward for him.

For sisters, who wish to embrace the hijab but have been fighting their own little battle between, pleasing the world and pleasing Allah ~ encourage them.  May they find peace in the path chosen by Allah for them. Ameen

For sisters, who are drifting (just like the sister in the below video) ~ make dua, lots of dua, that Allah swt makes her nafs stronger than the whispers of the wretched shaitaan.

Mislead by Traditions and Ignorance.

It was in the blessed month of Ramadhan, that the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed. (Peace and blessings be upon him)

The first word uttered was ” Iqra ” ~ meaning “READ” or RECITE.

Read: to understand the meaning of written symbols
Recite: to verbally repeat from memory (read aloud)

Muslims, young and old, have been encouraged to seek knowledge ~ to broaden their horizons with reference to this beautiful deen of Islam.

Sadly, muslims, are too preoccupied in hoarding worldly knowledge so as to attain higher degrees in science, maths and engineering, so as to attain better salaries and fulfill their worldly desires  ~   while totally neglecting to seek knowledge of the one book, that will eventually, be the ONLY source of “respite” and intervention for him/her in his/her grave !!!!

Because, parents have been idly following traditions, they prefer their offspring to continue doing so. The Asian upbringing is not the best, to say the least. We demand our children, not question, any traditional values ~  Centuries of misinformed people, who never once tried to “understand” and “apply” what the Quran preached ~ what the hadiths enlightened us with, never reached so many more of us. We have been swimming in a tide of bidaah and we fiercely support them !! We are a naïve lot and what’s worse is that we are an arrogant lot, at that .

The one who guides us to the righteous path, has to be lamented, his motives, questioned and his image, tarnished.

This is how low we have stooped. We, the ummah of Rasool Allah, sallallahi wa sallam 😦

Here is an example of a ‘top notch’ bidaah.

23 rakaahs of Taraveeh in 7 minutes !!!!!!

Now that we are aware of how the situation is over there, Can I request ANY aalim in this country/state/city to please reach out to our brothers and sisters and guide them in the right ways. I am sure, these people have good intentions but have NEVER researched their own religion. Instead they have accepted age-old traditional practices.

May Allah swt give them hidayah and guidance. Ameen

Not the Islamic way.

Assalam Alai kum brothers and sisters.

I am back from my self-imposed haitus, having just recently commenced a new venture ~ realized It was  depleting most my time. Hence decided to grab the opportunity in this Ramadhan.

Trust you all have been well, and reaping the many benefits of the month of Ramadhan

The below video was disturbing PERIOD !!

Since when did Allah swt like extravagance ???   It worries me to think, that we have millions of children in our neighboring countries, going without food and clean water, and we tend to just brush it under the carpet and enjoy such lavish feasts.

What has happened to this Ummah ???

I am totally dumbfounded. Such scenes worry me, for Allah swt never loosens his wrath on an ummah, until he has first send his messenger to warn them.

Sadly, THIS is the ummah of the last messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and what would he have felt, seeing this ??? Too many hadiths to this effect, about how he warned us against extravagance and to lead a simple, moderate life, leading by his own example.

Gone are the times when a entire community could eat a simple meal of bread and make shukr of the Creator, who provided it.

Today, simplicity has been replaced by extravagance and a glittery lifestyle.  Lavish carpets, elaborate meals (part of which is dumped !!) and decorations in the millions ~ where is the Ummah of Mohammed (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ?

Surely exuberance is not a part of muslim life.

May Allah swt guide us in the righteous path ! ameen.

Exactly, in contrast to the above video ~ is the reality of what our ” saum” was “supposed to”  teach us, in the following video.

May Allah swt have mercy on the less fortunate and guide us all. Ameen

Young Pakistani’s in the wrong direction.

These Pakistani teenagers have become an internet sensation with their rendition of Justin Bieber, with mum beating out the rhythmn on an old pot. Meet the ‘Justin Bibis’

Budding stars

Many surprises here :-

  • These young girls come from a remote town in Pakistan.
  • They don’t speak English ~ hence write the English pronunciation in Urdu.
  • They have their mothers support.
  • The first recording was done live ~ on a street ~ with bystanders around !!

Ofcourse following their youtube success, fame and recognition came swiftly, as does these days with the social media high.

What does NOT surprise me :-

  • They were hosted by a morning show as well, where they got a full makeover ~ LIVE !!
  • TV channels and show producers, are constantly looking out for unusual, ‘breaking news’ kinda topics to raise their TRP’s but sadly, Pakistani TV casually, glorifies everything non-Islamic.

Young sisters singing on TV is not a new phenomenon is Pakistan. We remember the Benjamin sisters of the 80’s, but here’s a new generation of Urdu-speaking small-town dwellers, who have draped themselves with a dupatta and croon to the likes of Justin Beiber !!! The miracles of new-age telecommunication, I suppose ! Or the long web of shaitaani fitnah.

This young sibling has no idea, of what content they are endorsing in their songs … naturally, neither does their mother.  Sounds nice enough to be sung without considering the repercussions !

From an Islamic point of view, having a woman’s voice heard with a musical set up ~ is not acceptable.

Hundred’s of small-town girls will find inspiration in these sisters, and consider crooning in public or youtube, as a ticket to fame.

Singing as a sign of rejoicing privately, in close confinement where only women are present, in a marriage function is the only exception where music and women can mix as per the teachings of deen !! Yet Pakistan has, long thrown the garb of ‘selective’ Islamic teachings and practices.  A young Malala cannot be sent to school, yet she can be rejoiced on the morning shows !!

That’s not a new one for hypocrisy but it just endorses its absolute presence, shamefully.

Tight Jeans & Muslim Women !

tight jeans

Either I’m living in a very confused time or there are a whole lot of confused women, swarming around in the malls dressed as a hybrid between, wanting to please their parents and wanting to go on a date  !!

not hijab hijaab

Tight clothing, hijab and muslim women (in public)  ~ just don’t go hand in hand. PERIOD !! (Ofcourse, You are totally at liberty to wear anything at home)

However, this generally happens, when women/girls either don’t know

  • Why they wear hijab
  • what is real hijab or
  • when they are trying to please ‘themselves’ while keeping Allah swt, somewhere in the picture.

Well sisters, I got some REAL news for you !!  Who do you think your kiddin ???  Surely, not the one who already has your intentions listed out.  I totally respect the parents for guiding these children towards hijab but I fail to understand, why parents don’t explain the importance behind the hijab.

Unfortunately, the media has symbolized hijab as a piece of cloth, worn to cover the hair. However, Hijab is far greater than just a piece of cloth. There are several aspects of Hijaab ~ the first one being the intention and the next being humility, hijab of the eyes, hijab of how one speaks, hijab of how one walks, and so on so forth.

In a race to be accepted and appreciated by western society, our girls have drifted towards the aesthetic values of hijab rather than the true meaning of humility. Clearly some of the requirements of Islamic clothing for the muslimah is that her dress, not be transparent, too tight so as to reveal her figure and also not something that can be associated with men’s clothing.

I watch in disappointment, while young oblivious muslimah girls prance around in flocks in their shockingly appealing shirts, tight jeans and tall sandals with colorful bling studded mobiles but ofcourse, donning a contrasting scarf to go with it. One doesn’t have to be a genius to figure out the chaos running in those tender brains !

For sisters, who are new to Islam, please take your time. Don’t be in a rush to adopt the hijab. Kindly study the religion before you embrace the dress code. Allah swt has bought open your hearts to this beautiful religion, surely he will make you see hijab as an extension of yourselves. It will become a part of your personality very soon. inshallah.

Quite honestly, it is something that comes so naturally to us, once we get accustomed to it and it is surely, not there to make tasks, difficult for us women.  Allah swt would never enforce something difficult for us to bear. He has made deen so simple for us to practise and he has kept women, so well protected, provided we live within our simple deeni boundaries.

May Allah swt protect our ummah and make us stronger and bring us closer together ameen.

Purifying the heart

Purifying the heart !

Assalam Alai kum brothers and sisters. I trust, you are in good health and are counting your blessings everyday.

The link above is an excellent short video based on our existence and how we can remove the corrupt, evil sins from our hearts. It is a beautiful metaphor and I’m sure, you will like it, hence sharing.

The doors of Rehma (mercy/forgiveness) will remain open for us till the moment, we take our last breath, hence don’t assume you will not be forgiven. Allah swt can and will pardon the worse of the sins, provided the niyaah (intention) is sincere and the remorse is true.

A family we knew, had a daughter, who suffered at the hands of a chronic illness for all her tender life. We realized, perhaps,  she was a test from the Almighty. Eventually she passed away leaving her parents with a broken heart.

A few years later, the only other child, an older son, matured and carried forward the responsibilities of his fathers’ business. The father was beside himself. A young, charming, well-behaved, well-disciplined and responsible son, is a dream come true. The parents had him married and the following year, the young bride and groom, performed Hajj.

Although, they are our family friends, we barely kept in touch, over the years. Never the less, I have a deep-rooted respect for this family and upon hearing the beautiful news, I was overwhelmed with joy.

Sadly, it was short-lived.

A couple of years later, the said young boy, committed suicide.

Death of a child, in itself, is the harshest emotional devastation, but loosing your child to suicide can add an unbelievably surreal dimension to this trauma.

And then begins a string of speculations of why he took such a drastic step .. .. perhaps monetary issues, perhaps business decline, perhaps he did not bear children and perhaps a dozen other factors, which we may never know and in so many ways, its none of our business ! But here is whats really important :-

My dear brothers and sisters, suicide is haram. There is no other way to put it mildly.

Please remember, we are placed in this world to face the trials, to endure hardships while keeping our imaan (faith) intact. We CANNOT and MUST NOT give up.

Talk to anyone of your family members, friend, relative, a trusted neighbor, a colleague, the imam in your masjid ~ if nothing else, turn to a psychiatrist.  But DONT give up.  Whatever problems, you face, there is ALWAYS a solution. Sometimes, we have to persistently search for it, and sometimes, patience brings it at our doorstep, never the less, there is ALWAYS a solution. However there is no solution to DEATH.

That is the trauma this elderly parent faces and will continue to endure every single day, for the rest of their lives.

The young bride who probably has a life ahead of her, with a stigma so intense, to carry in our hypocritical society.

What he did ~ is not the issue here becoz he is no more and no one can bring him back.

But what matters is what we learn from this unfortunate tragedy.

Asian parents are highly emotional and less logical parents. They pin too many hopes and aspirations over their offspring. In a way, they almost live their youth, thru their children, which is fine , so long as they don’t start imposing their expectations on them.  If your raising responsible children, remember, when they goof-up(and they will) don’t remind them time and again, about your disappointments (they already realize their mistake) Reminding them will not bring them closer to you. It will only widen the barrier between them and you.

Brothers and sisters, No matter what your fix is, rely on your parents. There will be a temporary period of disappointments and you may curl in the feeling of being a let-down. But trust me, its far better, that they sort your hassle out than sort your coffin out.  There can be no excuse for suicide. Absolutely NONE.

The void a parent feels after loosing a child is unbearably painful but knowing and blaming himself, all the remainder of his life, why his child could not turn to him as a confidante, is far more painful for a parent.

This video demonstrates how wrong decisions, wrong habits and wrong deeds can blacken our hearts and our minds and misguide us in the wrong direction, but ……………………… there is hope.

Astaghfirullah.

Ask Allah swt for forgiveness, refrain yourself from evil practices and reprimand your ways and there is no reason, why the Almighty Allah swt who is Ghafoor and Raheem, would not forgive his slave.

He is waiting for YOU to raise your hands in dua and with trust in your heart, turn to him. He alone will set you free.

so what are you waiting for ?

Gaza ~ the world’s largest prison.

Salam Alaikum brothers and sisters.

I have been ‘missing in action’ on this blog and I apologize for that, but who in their rightful mind, could focus on a blog in the midst of the hideous massacre taking place in Gaza !!

This ramadhan was a blessing for us. We were blessed to be in good health, blessed to be together and blessed to be fasting.  Sadly this Ramadhan also bought with it an awful reminder. A reminder of death, a reminder of mass scale destruction of the muslim ummah and a reminder of how we could, can and would perish if we did not remain steadfast in our worship and stand for our brothers and sisters, suffering in different parts of the world.

Also a reminder that, inspite of all the chaos and loss of life in Gaza, the world’s largest democratic government did not reach out to help them, send aid to them, or even condemn the oppressor. It was a reminder that NO HUMAN OR NATION can or will, help the muslim ummah except ofcourse, Allah Almighty, and hence we should not beseech anyone but Allah swt.

I will not repeat here, about the mass-scale destruction of homes, hospitals, schools, industries and even the power station ~ And I will not repeat the images of blown bodies, mutilated heads, pregnant mothers shot in the head, babies dying in the neo natal wards due to lack of medication and electricity.  Those are stories that you already know.

But I will say that I am appalled by the total lack of empathy on the part of the United Nations. I will say, that it leaves me with despair to realize that this organization has failed miserably in saving precious lives, taking immediate and appropriate action in rescuing the old, the women and children ~ the civilians, who had nothing to do with Hamas. This organization has shown us that the reins lie in the hands of the world’s largest bully.

1925088_595477873875547_1526237652_n

There are countries, who refuse to call it a genocide while there are countries, where thousands have come out on streets in protest.  South American countries, South Africa, Ireland, Turkey, Afghanistan are some of the amazing countries which were vocal in their decisions to stand against the Zionists.  While what is appalling is the silence by the Muslim world including Pakistan !!

10492115_275474259313930_3459256567050380958_n

This genocide is a reminder of how real the holocaust is for the muslims ! It is a reminder of which muslim state, stands by his brother and which muslim state has become so addicted to his lavish lifestyle that he dare not get out of his comfort zone. Politics and power is the price they are NOT ready to pay for.

Another aspect that became crystal clear is the sly role of the “media” ~ while American channels like ABC had even shown blown up Palestinian homes claiming them to be Israeli !! (which they apologized for later ~ when mass damage had already taken place ) ~  BBC in particular has played the most  ‘shocking’ role !! Thousands of English people gathered in protest of BBC’s preposterous role in the entire coverage of the “war on Gaza”

There is a saying that only in trial, we realize who our friends and our foe are. Before the trial ~ all are our friends.

Man proposes his plans and he is arrogant for he believes his plans will succeed but Allah Almighty has his own plans and his plans are righteous and Just. He is the best judge. For all those little children who were drilled with bullet holes and shrapnel, brutally murdered mothers and callously shot grandparents. For all those lifeless babies who couldn’t make it to their first breath in this world ~ to all those fathers who had to silently carry the mutilated bodies and limbs of their precious sons and daughters ~ ALLAH ALMIGHTY is the best judge. So fret not ~ Your loss in this world will be highly rewarded in the next.  Inshallah.

And for the silent muslim spectators ~ you have a lot to answer to Allah Almighty ~ so be prepared.

The only silver lining in the Gaza Massacre was that people all over the world ~ sat up, took notice and reacted in a positive way ~ the learned realized researched the archives of Palestinian history ~ the wise discovered how atrocious Israel’s plans were and scores of Jews, themselves protested against it ! One such remarkable name is Naomi Wolf.  That itself, is a victory of the sorts. What with, having spent millions in keeping a tight grip on the media for decades ~ finally the social media has been able to deliver where the news media failed.

10553560_799150296782922_3697787503650612475_n

And as for Israel’s media and economics control: people are now waking up to crimes that are committed by Israel, thanks to the social medias, people like myself are boycotting all Israeli products. It’s slowly showing up in the stock market. The fact is, Israel can try to control people by feeding them wrong propagandas and lies, but a ‘woken up’ mind is more lethal than any of their tactics. It’s time to call a spade a spade!

Lower your gaze ~ my brothers.

This picture speaks volumes !!

ArabsWithBadEyes

  • We all claim to love Allah swt
  • We all claim to pray salaat.
  • We all claim to give Zakaat.
  • We keep saum to please Allah swt in Ramadhan
  • Yet, what we don’t realize is that these are the small tests that Allah swt presents to us.
  • Did we remember what we were taught during our upbringing ?
  • Did we remember our hadith ?
  • Did we even remember what our beloved Prophet did when non-mahram women passed by ?
  • How many passed this test ? How many failed ?
  • Please remember brothers AND sisters, ‘tests’ don’t always come in huge and dire situations ~ mostly they come in small packages to test the imaan.
  • Remember ~ There is zina from the eyes as well.
  • Infact the most complicated situations, almost always arise from the most “innocent of meetings”
  • Lower your gaze, my brothers. It will lead you straight to an unbearable place.
  • May Allah swt protect our beautiful ummah. Ameen.

Secrets of Surat Al Kahf

Ever wondered why Prophet Muhammad (SAW) asked us to recite Surat Al-Kahf every Friday?

This surah has four stories in it, having some morals, lets see them and understand what they are saying to us:

1) The people of the cave
It’s the story of young men who lived in a disbelieving town, so they decided to migrate for the sake of Allah and run away. Allah rewards them with mercy in the cave and protection from the sun – they woke up and found the entire village believers.
Moral: trial of faith

2) The owner of two gardens
A story of a man whom Allah blessed with two beautiful gardens, but the man forgot to thank the one who blessed him with everything and he even dared to doubt Allah regarding the afterlife. So his garden was destroyed – he regretted ,but was too late and his regret did not bene?t him.
Moral: trial of wealth

3) Musa(as) and Khidr(as)
When musa(as) was asked-“who’s the most knowledgeable of the people of earth?”” Musa(as) said: me…,but Allah revealed to him that there’s someone who knows more than him. Musa(as) traveled to the man and learned how the divine wisdom can sometimes be hidden in matters which we perceive as bad.
Moral: trial of knowledge

4) Dhul-qarnayn
It’s a story of the great king that was given knowledge and power and was going around the world, helping people and spreading all that’s good. He was able to overcome the problem of Yajooj-Majooj and build a massive dam with the help of people whom he could not even understand.
Moral: trial of power

In the middle of the surah Allah mentions iblees as the one who stirs these trials:
Behold! we said to the angels “bow down to adam”: they bowed down except iblis. he was one of the jinns, and he broke the command of his lord. will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than me? and they are enemies to you! evil would be the exchange for the wrongdoers!

Now let us see what’s the relationship between surat al-kahf and the dajjal (anti-christ)?
Dajjal will appear before day of judgement with the 4 trials:

A) He’ll ask people to worship him and not Allah: trial of faith.
B) He’ll be given powers to start/stop rain and tempt people with his wealth: trial of with his wealth.
C) He’ll trial people with the “knowledge” and news he gives them: trial of knowledge.
D) He’ll control huge parts of the earth: trial of power.

How to survive these trials? The answers are in Surat Al-Kahf:

Survival kit 1: Good companionship
“and keep thy soul content with those who call on their lord morning and evening, seeking his face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this life; no obey any whose heart we have permitted to neglect the remembrance of us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.” (Surat al-kahf, verse 28)

Survival kit 2: Knowing the truth of this world
“set forth to them the similitude of the life of this world: it is like the rain which we send down from the skies: the earth’s vegetation absorbs it, but soon it becomes dry stubble, which the winds do scatter: it is (only) Allah who prevails over all things” (Surat al-kahf, verse 45)

Survival kit 3: Humbleness.
[Moses] said, “You will find me, if Allah wills, patient, and I will not disobey you in [any] order.” (Surat al-kahf, verse 69)

Survival kit 4: Sincerity.
“say: “i am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me, that your Allah is one Allah whoever expects to meet his lord, let him work righteousness, and, in the worship of his lord, admit no one as partner.” (Surat al- kahf, verse 110)

Survival kit 5: Calling to Allah.
“and recite (and teach) what has been revealed to thee of the book of thy lord: none can change his words, and none wilt thou ? and as a refuge other than him.” (surat al-kahf, verse 27)

Survival kit 6: Remembering the Hereafter.
“ one day we shall remove the mountains, and thou wilt see the earth as a level stretch, and we shall gather them, all together, nor shall we leave out any one of them. and they will be marshalled before thy lord in ranks, (with the announcement), “now have ye come to us (bare) as we created you ?rst: aye, ye thought we shall not ful?l the appointment made to you to meet (us)!”: and the book (of deeds) will be placed (before you); and thou wilt see the sinful in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein; they will say, “ah! woe to us! what a book is this! it leaves out nothing small or great, but takes account thereof !” they will ?nd all that they did, placed before them: and not one will thy lord treat with injustice.” (surat al-kahf, verses 47-49)

Islamophobia !!

http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/faultlines/

Islamophobia !!! According to http://crg.berkeley.edu/content/islamophobia/defining-islamophobia, this term was coined only 20 years back – meaning ?  “Unfounded hostility towards Muslims” ~ and yet today, we tend to find a lot of western governments are so paranoid with this basic “make-believe” disease.

Watching this weeks Fault Line on Al Jazeera TV made me realize to what extent, what I have been suspecting for a very long time was surely not a figment of my imagination ~ this is a paranoid government ~ which says something while acts differently. Talks about transparency while holds back the real ugly web of lies.

For hundreds of years, the native Americans and the colored people were targeted ~ and subjugated to a degraded life style. Until, the end of the century saw the dawn of a beautiful concept. ” Democracy “. America was not only the land of freedom and equality but also justice. Fast forward a couple of decades, and where are we ??   There is still subjugation, there is still hostility, there is still racism. The contenders have changed though. Its them (the islamophobes) against the Muslims ?? Which Muslims ? The ordinary Muslims ~ the Muslims who teach in schools or the Muslims who learn in schools, the Muslims who own a restaurant or the Muslim who serves in a restaurant, the Muslim father who takes the trash out in the night or the Muslim son who’s  working to gain a law degree, the Muslim mother who is running errands at the grocer or the Muslim daughter who wears the hijab.  The imam who is petrified of carrying every word in his khutbah like walking on the edge of a sword, with grave consequences and the jammah who is feeling paranoid looking around to who is spying on him for sitting and praying in a Masjid !! What has become of them ??? What has become of them ALL ???

Why and How can a community be targeted in such an indifferent manner ?? Was this the dream his father had, when he boarded on a flight to JFK, 40 years ago, wanting a better life for his children ~ wishing for them to grow up in a society that has respect and concern for their neighbor, a country where you are tolerated and even accepted for being of any color, race or salary bracket ???  What happened to those beliefs ???  Why are they spying when you make sujood ? Why are innocent people being scrutinized and stripped when they have nothing but their integrity and izzah at stake ???

Which world did you come to, oh father ? and which world has this become ?

And for the next century or so ~ will the American government, “keep connecting all the dots” (as per the NSA bosses !!)  and harassing Muslims, all in the name of 911 ???  You don’t see the Japanese doing ” that” for Nagasaki and Hiroshima  or the Vietnamese for Vietnam ~ You don’t see the Native Americans doing “That” for being subjected to the largest massacre in the history of the world !!!

Wake up America ~ Use your resources rightfully.  You have bigger problems to worry about in your own backyard ~economy,  drugs, health bill, gang wars, teenage pregnancies etc etc. Your plates are full of its own backyard issues ~ Put your resources to sorting those issues instead of fighting a “make belief” war !!!!!

Enough damage is done with Iraq and Afghanistan ~ Now move on to “real” problems.

PS. To the third party “spying” on this post ~ Life is too short ~ live and let live, man !!

Muslim Neighbors.

http://www.5pillarz.com/2013/11/09/mumbai-property-ad-specifies-no-muslims/

Being a “Bombayite” (Sorry, just never got around to calling it Mumbai ~ having spent 40 years calling it Bombay )  ~ We have been subjected to this kind of unspoken but direct discrimination for decades and yet, it infuriates me that people now have the audacity to say it out openly !!

We tend to throw every tiny and huge issue at our political system and probably to a certain extent, it is the divide that they (political parties ) cause between us during the election drama, that has left this stigma in society.  But I don’t believe that ONLY areas like Bhindi bazaar, Mohammed Ali road, Mumra, Mira Road, Bhivandi etc are where the concentration of Muslims, deserve to reside. Perhaps a jolt down memory lane is that in the late 50s, a large part of the polished Film fraternity were Muslims and had made the plush but then-quiet area of Bandra, including Pali hill, Carter road and Bandstand, their home. They still inhabit these now-sadly-over populated areas in co-existence with the rest of the world.

Scores of authentic hadiths have been told about a Muslims behavior towards his neighbor.  I’ll share just one here :-

The Prophet (pbuh) explains the rights and obligations toward a neighbor in the following hadith of Tabarani.

The rights of the neighbour is that, when he is sick you  visit him; when he dies, you go to his funeral; when he is poor you lend him (money); when he is in need you protect him; when he is in happiness you congratulate him; when he is struck with  a calamity, you condole him; don’t raise your building above his to cut off the wind from him; don’t harm him with the good smell of your food unless you let him have part of it.   [Tabarani]

That is the perfect neighbor ! And if Muslims practice this hadith ~ then they too are the perfect neighbors !

It baffles me, why while a Muslim boy from a chawl – celebrates every Hindu, Christian and Sikh festivals, what could prompt people to refrain from keeping Muslim neighbors ??

When we educate a community ~ it grows ~ it develops ~ becoz we have empowered it with education and rational thinking.

When we add hurdles, lest a community not taste the fruit of education ~ we are shunning an entire generation from seeing the light of the day. We are depriving it from moving, from change, from improvement, from betterment, from growth.

If Convents are going to target Muslim parents for enormous donations, how do you think, these children are going to make a difference, if not to the whole of humanity, at least to his own capabilities ~ to his own family ?  Are the parents not being penalized for being Muslims ?

If 60% of jobs are safely reserved for the privileged  (non-muslim) class, how do you expect the Muslim student to score a reasonably good job ?? Would we rather he turn back and run a kebab store or even better, flee to the middle eastern states ~ while depriving his own country of his abundant talent and economy ??

Why are we so judgmental ? What makes us above the next person we are seated beside ?  What he wears ? What he eats ? What he believes ? Where he prays  Or how he behaves with us ??? Lets just say, I expect a complicated answer with twists and turns from the learned  ~~ but from the righteous ~ He has already embraced his neighbor regardless his religion.

Our forefathers fought and won our freedom decades ago but its a pity, that they could not free our enslaved minds of our preconceived notions ~ “about ourselves” !!

Grow up and grow out of your self contained and self contaminated shells. Live and let live.

Are we hypocrites ?

Why have we become such a insecure ummah from a fearless one ?  Constantly keeping up with the world is going to take us far from our goal ~ our Akhirah. We were once a race that was feared coz we believed in what was delivered to us from our beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salam)  and regardless of any influence, we abide by His instructions. But today our state is pathetic ~ we are just a distant figure of what we should be. We have molded our deen to our convenience. We have convinced ourselves that a lot of practices will NOT, indeed get us into trouble. We have been mislead and we are misleading our future generations. Unless we hold onto our sunnahs steadfastly, we are at a complete loss, our future generation is at a loss. Our ummah is at a loss.

Look at the condition of our Ummah:
The non-believing women are proud of their nakedness as they flaunt themselves in front of the world, while our Muslims sisters are ashamed of their hijab so they try to wear it in ways that the kuffar will approve of it.
The non-believers jump naked into pools, while we are embarassed to make wudu in toilet sinks….
The kuffar take pride in their illicit relationships, while we look for ways to condemn early marriages.
The disbelievers take pride in their liberalized culture in which homosexuality, prostitution and porn are considered freedom, while we feel ashamed of our deen that actually liberates us from the evil commands of our nafs.
While the kuffar commit animalistic acts in public without the least bit of shame, we find it embarassing to pray on the streets.
If they are proud of their filth, then what is stopping us from taking pride in our purity?
This is who we are and what we do and the day we stop being apologetic for being a Muslim, the lost glory of this Ummah will return.

The Real Enemy.

“The real enemies are not in some distant land, they are not peoples who’s names we don’t know and cultures we don’t understand. The enemy is people we know very well and people we can identify. The enemy is a system that wages war when it’s profitable. The enemy is the CEO’s that lay us off from our jobs when it’s profitable. It’s the insurance companies that deny us health care when it’s profitable. It’s the banks that take away our homes when it’s profitable. Our enemies are not five thousand miles away, they are right here at home. If we organize and fight with our sisters and brothers, we can stop this war, we can stop this government and we can create a better world.”

If only there were more people who say this truth ~ accepted this truth and could do something to stop “that” enemy.

The Most Influential Person In History ~ a book by Michael H.Hart.

Muhammad Mirror Calligraphy
Prophet Muhammad: Most Influential Person In History
The Quran ” We make no distinction among any of the Prophets. — 2:135Michael H. Hart, The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History

My choice of Muhammad to lead the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels. . .

. . . it may initially seem strange that Muhammad has been ranked higher than Jesus. There are two principal reasons for that decision. First, Muhammad played a far more important role to the development of Islam than Jesus did in the development of Christianity. Although Jesus was responsible for the main ethical and moral precepts of Christianity (insofar as these differed from Judaism), St. Paul was the main developer of Christian theology, its principal proselytizer, and the author of a large portion of the New Testament.

Muhammad, however, was responsible for both the theology of Islam and its main ethical and moral principles. In addition he played a key role in proselytizing the new faith, and in establishing the religious practices of Islam. Moreover, he is the author of the Moslem holy scriptures, the Koran. [The Quran, Muslims believe, is the revealed Word of God.]

Furthermore, Muhammad (unlike Jesus) was a secular leader as well as a religious leader. In fact as the driving force behind the Arab conquests, he may well rank as the most influential political leader of all time. . . [When Muhammad died in 632, he was the effective leader of all of southern Arabia. By 711, Arab armies had swept completely across North Africa to the Atlantic Ocean. In a scant century of fighting, the Bedouin tribesmen, inspired by the word of the Prophet, had carved out an empire stretching from the borders of India to the Atlantic Ocean — the largest empire that the world had yet seen.]

. . the Arab conquests of the seventh century have continued to play an important role in human history, down to the present day. It is this unparalleled combination of secular and religious influence which I feel entitles Muhammad to be considered the most influential single figure in human history.

Alphonse de Lamartine, Histoire de la Turquie

Never has a man set for himself, voluntarily or involuntarily, a more sublime aim, since this aim was superhuman: to subvert superstitions which had been interposed between man and his creator, to render God unto man and man unto God; to restore the rational and sacred idea of divinity amidst the chaos of the material and disfigured gods of idolatry, then existing. Never has a man undertaken a work so far beyond human power with so feeble means, for he (Muhammad) had in the conception as well as in the execution of such a great design no other instrument than himself, and no other aid, except a handful of men living in a corner of the desert. Finally, never has a man accomplished such a huge and lasting revolution in the world, because in less than two centuries after its appearance, Islam, in faith and in arms, reigned over the whole of Arabia, and conquered, in God’s name, Persia, Khorasan, Transoxania, Western India, Syria, Egypt, Abyssinia, all the known continent of Northern Africa, numerous islands of the Mediterranean, Spain, and a part of Gaul.

If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the true criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad? The most famous men created arms, laws and empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. This man moved not only armies, legislations, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one-third of the inhabited world; and more than that, he moved the altars, the gods, the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and the souls.

On the basis of a Book, every letter of which has become law, he created a spiritual nationality which blended together peoples of every tongue and of every race. He has left us as the indelible characteristic of this Muslim nationality the hatred of false gods and the passion for the One and Immaterial God. This avenging patriotism against the profanation of Heaven formed the virtue of the followers of Muhammad; the conquest of one-third of the earth to his dogma was his miracle; or rather it was not the miracle of a man but that of reason.

The idea of the Unity of God, proclaimed amidst the exhaustion of fabulous theogonies, was in itself such a miracle that upon its utterance from his lips it destroyed all the ancient temples of idols and set on fire one-third of the world. His life, his meditations, his heroic revilings against the superstitions of his country, and his boldness in defying the furies of idolatry, his firmness in enduring them for fifteen years at Mecca, his acceptance of the role of public scorn and almost of being a victim of his fellow countrymen: all these and, finally, his flight, his incessant preaching, his wars against odds, his faith in his success and his superhuman security in misfortune, his forbearance in victory, his ambition, which was entirely devoted to one idea and in no manner striving for an empire; his endless prayers, his mystic conversations with God, his death and his triumph after death: all these attest not to an imposture but to affirm conviction which gave him the power to restore a dogma. This dogma was twofold, the unity of God and the immateriality of God: the former telling what God is, the latter telling what God is not; the one overthrowing false gods with the sword, the other starting an idea with the words.

Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he? — Paris 1854, Vol. II, pp. 276- 277

Note from Naush :- (Since this is compiled by a non-muslim, I can overlook that he has written that Prophet Mohammed PBUH was the “author” of Koran.   However, One of our Prophets great accomplishment is his Ummah and all his efforts to lay down the righteous track for his Ummah to follow. Alhamduallah )
