R.I.P Rest in Peace.

RIP

What perplexes me, many a times, is how we Muslims tend to follow people rather than our Quran and Hadiths. Having a well known, well respected and well researched scholar to “lean on” for direction and advise is a blessing. But living in this century, with all the immense amount of resources available to us, how can we still follow or be misguided by “PEOPLE” ~ How can we “mix and blend” our deen with other cultures ?? But nearly everywhere you turn to, its happening !

Have we become so insensitive and cold that we no more call someone to pay our respects and our condolenses when some one dies in their home ?  Do we resort to texting them ? In Islam, every Muslim is a brother to EVERY other Muslim, regardless of his color, nationality, wealth etc. And he has a duty to four things for his brother in deen, one of which is that he visits him when he is sick and attends his funeral (if possible). However, we have melted down so miserably that visiting or telephoning the said person who’s house has had some one deceased is out of the question. What tends to happen is a cookie cutter text message on the phone !! Are we so thick ? Have we come so harshly under the wrong influence that we have totally forgotten or rather, not even read our sunnahs ??

Being a part of several social groups on facebook is as much a curse as it is an advantage. There are but only a few advantages, however the curses strongly out weigh them. Let me explain one such predicament.

A sister, writes how her grandmother passed away the same day and asks for duas to be made for her maghfirat. Several ladies reply with an “Innallaha wa inna ilaihi rajioon” translates loosely as “From Allah we come and to Him, shall we return”. The reality is that this particular line is the essence of all humanity !! Nothing above, nothing below and nothing sideways will bring you closer to the truth than understanding this. But we were brainwashed by our parents into saying this line without ever really pondering over the reality behind it … until it became almost a reflex action.

What amazed, and shocked me is that the Adminstrator of this group writes ” Inna Nilla he…RIP “

I mean, its one thing not to call someone to console them and its another thing to write “”Innallaha wa inna ilaihi rajioon” on their comment status but its outright ridiculous that people don’t even have enough humanity to complete the sentence ~ never mind the typo error but whats further dangerous is that they actually join it with something absolutely unislamic like RIP. (short for REST IN PEACE )  A term used significantly by non muslims particularly Christians on their tombstones or gravestones.

Whats unacceptable is that since she is the administrator of the group, 340 more women in this group would eventually start following this line until it becomes a trend and then a norm. Astaghfirullah !! How shaitaan misleads us !!

Not one single woman, pointed it out to the sister !!!  Each one prefers to be a part of the flock ~ favorable to the leader ~ yet a traitor to the Supreme leader sitting on his mighty throne !

For me, very few things matter more than my Allah’s impression of me, my own conscience and my husbands opinion ! Hence it is not difficult to try a soft way to correct the sister from writing what she did with a ” sister, please don’t write part of the dua and complete it with RIP “.

This is a social group mainly for ladies in Dubai and mostly all of them are muslim women.  Human beings are vague. You can never know for sure what to expect from them. I can just imagine how fed up Allah swt must be of us yet he continues to love us and bless us with many more chances !!

I pray Allah swt blesses this sister and all the other sisters in this group and in several other similar groups, with hidayah. Ameen.

Abilities of Jinns.

Source: The World of the Jinn: Invitation to Islam, Issue 4, January 1998

If a person does become possessed, then the name of Allah has to be used in expelling the Jinn. If we look at the practice of the Prophet SAW and his companions Raziallahu anhu, we find many duas (supplications) to exorcise the Jinn. All these duas invoke Allah to help the possessed person. How contrary this is to many modern-day exorcists. Many exorcists, Muslim and non-Muslim, often invoke the names of others besides Allah to exorcise the Jinn {whilst Christians invoke the name of Jesus, many Muslims invoke the name of pious Muslim saints! The rituals which are conducted by many Muslims are more akin to voodoo then the exorcism practiced by the Prophet and his companions!!}. When the Jinn does leave, these people believe that their way was successful. However, this is a ploy of the Jinn, as it knows that if it obeys the exorcist, then it has succeeded in making him worship others besides Allah i.e. commit shirk. The Jinn often returns when the exorcist leaves, as it knows that nothing except the words of Allah can stop it from oppressing others.

It is not only humans which are possessed, but also animals, trees and other objects. By doing this, the evil Jinn hope to make people worship others besides Allah. The possession of idols is one way to do this. Not so long ago the world-wide phenomenon of Hindu idols drinking milk, shocked the world. From Bombay to London, Delhi to California, countless idols were lapping up milk. Ganesh the god, Hanuman the god and even Shiva lingam, the male private organ(!), all seemed to guzzle down the milk as if there was no tomorrow!

Unfortunately people were taken in by this (including Muslims) and many flocked to feed (?) the Hindu gods. Anyone who knows about Jinn possession, will undoubtedly know that this is a classic attempt to make people commit shirk. And it worked, as many people started to worship these lifeless pieces of wood and marble. Anyone with half a brain would say to themselves, ‘why on earth does a god need to be fed?!! Surely if Ganesh, Hanuman or Shiva were divine then they wouldn’t need feeding?’ However, such common sense seemed to be lacking as the Jinns played havoc with these gullible people.

Dont let him win !!

A man woke up early in order to Pray the Fajr Prayer in the masjid. He got dressed, made his ablution and was on his way to the masjid.

On his way to the masjid, the man fell and his clothes got dirty. He got up, brushed himself off, and headed home.

At home, He changed His Clothes, made his ablution, and was, again, on his way to the masjid.

On his way to the masjid, He Fell again and at the Same Spot! He, again, got up, brushed himself off and headed home.

At home he, once again, Changed His Clothes, made his ablution and was on his way to the masjid.

On his way to the masjid, He Met a Man Holding a Lamp. He asked the man of his identity and the man replied

‘I Saw You Fall Twice on your way to the masjid, So I Brought a Lamp so I can Light Your Way.’

The first man thanked him profusively and the two where on their way to the masjid. Once at the masjid, the first man asked the man with the lamp to come in and pray Fajr with him. The second man refused. The first man asked him a couple more times and, again, the answer was the same. The first man asked him why he did not wish to come in and pray.

The man replied  ” I am Shetaan(devil/ evil) ” The man was shocked at this reply. Shetan went on to explain,

‘I saw you on your way to the masjid and it was I who made you fall. When you went home, cleaned yourself and went back on your way to the masjid, Allah forgave all of your sins.  I made you fall a second time, and even that did not encourage you to stay home, but rather, you went back on your way to the masjid. Because of that, Allah forgave all the sins of the people of your household . I was AFRAID if i made you fall one more time, then Allah will forgive the sins of the people of your village, so I made sure that you reached the masjid safely..’

So do not let Shetan benefit from his actions. Do not put off a good that you intended to do as you never know how much reward you might receive from the hardships you encounter while trying to achieve that good.

May Allah (Subhana Ho Wataallah) grant us a perfect Muslim Heart n we all do Prayers with our Heart and Soul… Ameen
